Jessica Roy – city councillor

Jessica Roy

As a young mother, I am open to others and new ideas. I grew up in Waterloo. My wish is that my children and future generations can thrive here, as I did. I am committed to ensuring that the city’s resources, infrastructure, and services continue to meet and exceed the needs and expectations of all citizens. Therefore, the city’s ability to provide sufficient drinking water and the health of the lake are important to me.

My main motivations for seeking the position of councilor are:

  • Greater transparency: answering citizens’ questions honestly and with as much information as possible;
  • Improving quality of life and the environment: decisions made primarily in the interests of citizens;
  • Respecting and listening to citizens: sound financial management, among other things.

To date, my involvement in municipal affairs has taken various forms, including attending most public consultations and Council meetings. I also helped create and manage the Waterloo Informed Citizens Facebook page. The issues I have been involved in include opposition to: water meters at taxpayers’ expense, the demolition of houses on Taylor Street, the construction project in the Boulevard de l’Horizon area (opposite Avenue des Terrasses), and the adoption of the new urban plan without modification.

I am a cheerful person and enjoy getting involved in the community. I believe I can help find the best solutions to any problems that may arise. I want to represent the voice of citizens.
