Simon Doucet – city councillor

Simon Doucet

  • Over 25 years of experience at the University of Montreal, supporting research in the biomedical and planning fields (architecture and urban planning). In 2011, he founded a company specializing in digital data processing for research in architecture and urban planning (Humaneco). He moved his company to Waterloo in 2018.
  • Member of the Board of Directors of Les Amis du Bassin Versant du Lac Waterloo (ABVLW, formerly known as Action Lac Waterloo – ALW) from 2018 to 2019. Among other things, he participated in the launch of the Jardins Intelligents project initiated by his colleague and fellow aspiring councilor, Richard Morasse, a few years earlier as part of the Choisir Waterloo team.
  • Member of the Comité Consultatif en Environnement (CCE) from 2020 to 2024. He is involved in the creation of the Waterloo Nature Reserve, notably by seeking scientific expertise and funding, as well as drafting the application to the Haute-Yamaska RCM.
  • In February 2024, he is a member of the jury for the UQAM urban planning students’ charrette, a subject close to his heart. Several scenarios for the development and revitalization of downtown Waterloo are presented.
  • Concerned about the future of his community, he has been actively involved in Council meetings over the past two years. He has questioned members about several issues of concern, including the consultation process for the urban plan review, the health of Waterloo Lake, residential development that respects the living environment, and affordable housing.

I would like to become a councilor so that I can put my knowledge and experience to work for citizens, with complete transparency and respect, as part of a diverse team.
